Make
it Monday!
With the Boys
away to school & Daddy off to Meetings we had quiet and empty house
to create as much mess and noise, as we wanted to.
We decided we
would make the chef hat we seen in a catalogue photo shoot that got little
madam all excited!
This project is
quick and easy to create- we added our own twist by adding lace and scrap
material using PVA glue.
YOU WILL NEED: Paper Doilies / Scarp Fabric / Tailor’s Chalk or Pencil / Fabric Scissors / PVA Glue / Pritt Stick / Pasturing Brush / Lace or Ribbon / Fabric Tape
STEP TWO- Press the cut part of the Doily down flat on
the wrong side of the fabric. Chalk or pencil around the outline and mark out
exactly where the bottom part is. Cut the fabric out carefully.
STEP THREE- now
glue the cut out part of the Doily to the other half using a pritt stick.
Spread a thin
layer of PVA glue over the cloud pattern of the Doilies. Press the fabric down
on the doily and smooth over carefully using a spare fabric or soft tissue,
removing any air bubbles or creases.
Leave it to dry on your central heating for approximately 10-15 minutes.
STEP FOUR- Once the glue is fully dry, make a scissor
cuts right up to the edge of the doily removing any left over fabrics.
Spread a thin
layer of PVA glue over bottom part of the doily where you would fix your lace
or ribbon and Press the lace or ribbon down on the doily and smooth over
carefully using a spare fabric or soft tissue, removing any air bubbles or
creases. Leave it to dry on your central
heating for approximately 10-15 minutes.
EMBELLISHMENT (but this part is not so necessary)
If you want t
to personalise your hat you can cut initial and stick it with PVA glue or if
you like what I have done - Once the glue is fully dry affix a fabric tape in
the middle of the lace or ribbon to add detail.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial post.
(Please be very careful when using Scissors. Always remove the paper doily from the central heating within 10-15 min as ignorance can cause fire.)
